NOKAY Take Away

NOKAY = No One Knows About You.

Recently, I had a family member ask me, “What do you want your readers to take away from reading your book?”

Although no one has really asked me that, I already knew what the answer to that question was.

There are two main points that I would hope my readers, especially my younger readers, would come away with.

1. Know Your Self-Worth
I pray that my readers would come away by knowing how amazing and how precious they are. There are over 7.7 billion people on this planet. And not ONE of those people is you. You are beautifully and uniquely created. You are a gem.

I pray that people stop worrying what others think of them, and KNOW that their Creator thinks they are the most precious thing to Him. If we know how precious we are, we will not settle for mediocre treatment and mediocre love.

2. Don’t Be Afraid To Step Out of Your Comfort Zone

In the story, you have two people that are used to their “comfort zone” and struggling to adjust when they step out of it.

For Brianna, it’s stepping out of her group of friends and stepping out of what she knows of love and relationships. She has this concept that she’s used to when she’s in a relationship with Jordan. When she steps out of that and is introduced to someone new, who has a new way of appreciating her and loving her, she’s still held back by her “comfort zone” of thinking.

For Ricardo, his comfort zone was being alone and living in his small bubble of avoidance. Because of the bullying that he endures, he finds it easier to stay away from people and just “survive” high school. Even when he’s approached by his biggest crush, he still hesitates to allow himself to tutor her because he’s so afraid to step out of that comfort.

I pray that my readers understand that comfort can be a great thing for us, but it can also prevent us from discovering new and amazing people, things, or experiences. Yes, there will be times when we run into situations that may hurt us or cause us discomfort, but we can’t let those things keep us from finding something new that is wonderful or that we may love.
