NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT YOU
DID YOU KNOW #012
Did you know… the title of this book was staring at me the entire time without me realizing it.
In Chapter 11 when Brianna and Ricardo are at the pond in his subdivision, Brianna asks him, “Tell me something no one knows about you.” She asks him that a few times throughout the book.
During the whole time of me writing and even most of the time I was editing this book I just had it titled “Nerd”. I knew that wasn’t going to be my final title, but without anything standing out to me, it was the project name I had given it for the time being.
While I was combing through the book one day looking for inspiration for a name and I came upon that first conversation where it first appears. I really like it but it seemed a little too long for a book title. After staring at it for a moment, I decided to cut out the “Tell me something…” part. What was left was something I really loved. “No One Knows About You.”
I really loved this for a couple of reasons. I think right off the bat, it speaks to Ricardo. When Brianna first meets him she doesn’t know him. In fact, besides the bullies, no one really knows him. As time goes on and Brianna’s relationship with Ricardo flourishes, she realizes that he’s this undiscovered gem of a person.
I also feel that it can apply to Brianna as well. She’s known at school to be one person, but in reality, she’s someone else that no one has really taken the time to understand and know.
I wonder how many people we pass by in our lives that we’ve never taken the time to really know. What stories are we missing out on? What friendships have we unknowingly passed on?
Once the title was set, there was nothing else that would come close to fitting. I still love it very much.
