In chapter 14 Ricardo takes Brianna to the zoo for her birthday. At first, Brianna is confused as to why he took her to the zoo but as the gift unfolds, she realizes it is much more than she could ever imagine.
I love the Houston Zoo and always have since I was a kid. My wife’s favorite animal is the elephant so, of course, I had to put that little piece in there.
This was a chapter that I had to do some research on in order to make sure there was accuracy. I watched videos and read some blogs pertaining to Asian elephants and those specific to the Houston Zoo. Methai and Shanti are both elephants that actually exist in the Houston Zoo and they really do paint. And yes, you can buy their paintings online.
I enjoyed writing this chapter. I envisioned Brianna’s experience and how it must have felt like being someone who loved elephants and being able to touch one for the first time.
