Simply Majestic

Chapter 29 was very vital in my story. It was the chapter when Ricardo and Brianna’s feelings for one another truly surfaced.

In this chapter, Ricardo, Brianna, and his parents go to the gala, and the night couldn’t go any better for them. They dance the night away, and towards the end of the night, Ricardo is able to pull Brianna away for some alone time, away from the loud music and crowd. It’s here where Ricardo asks if she had to describe a sunset to someone who has never seen one; how would she.

He looked back up at the sky. “If you had to describe a sunset to someone who had never seen one, how would you?” He looked over at her.

She thought for a moment as she studied it. “I’m not even sure.” She looked at him and then back at the sky. “I mean, that it’s beautiful… full of colors… just amazing…” She looked at him again. “I guess it’s tough to truly put into words. How would you describe it?”

He looked at the sky. “I would say it’s one of the most amazing things you could ever see. From the shapes of the clouds, to the colors, every bit of it is spectacular. A sunset is the only thing I can see every day and it never looks the same each time I see it. Each day it’s as beautiful as the next, if not more.”

Brianna looked up at the sky and the colors seemed to have changed since they first had come outside.

He looked at Brianna. “Nothing makes me stop and stare and just be in complete awe, like a sunset. A photo can never capture the absolute beauty of just experiencing it firsthand in front of you. It’s as if God Himself was painting a masterpiece right here in front of me. It’s simply majestic.”

“Wow.” Brianna nodded. “That’s quite a description…” She turned to look at him and realized he’d been looking at her and not the sky. “… for a sunset.”

“And all of that still doesn’t do it justice.” He smiled at her while he took in the vision of her.

She felt numb and her breath escaped her. “Oh.” She remembered what he had said earlier on his porch. “I see.”

No One Knows About You (Chapter 29) by Paco Montoya

After this conversation, they dance one last song and then experience their first kiss. This is the first big climax in their relationship and I wanted to make it as special as possible. I ran and re-ran this scene and chapter in my head making sure it was exactly as it needed to be for them. I really liked the way it ended up and I love the short scene of the car ride home that follows this.
