I can’t believe that my last post was back in April. I guess it’s fair to say that getting off track is pretty easy to do and can go on so long without even realizing it. Summer has been busy. It’s been great, but definitely busy. Unfortunately, I have not been busy with my books. I thought I would check in with you all and let you know what’s happened, what is happening, and what is hopefully to come.
What’s Happened
With summer kicking off my oldest has been home with me. He’s a pretty easy kid to manage so he hasn’t been a huge distraction for me besides the occasional “Can you play with me?”. There’s be VBS, Church Camp, and a family trip to Costa Rica (which was amazing). After all of that, we decided to take my youngest out of his summer daycare and stay home with me as well for the last month of summer. All summer long he’d been asking why he didn’t get a chance to stay home and big brother has. And so, it’s been super busy with my two little guys with me while I work from home. I will miss them so much, but I am ready to get back to a normal schedule next week when school starts. During this whole time, I hadn’t had a chance to work on editing my second book, nor do any writing or marketing. Fortunately, my wife was still editing my book, little by little all along the way.
What’s Happening
Not long after our family trip, I told myself that if I wanted to have a 2022 book release, I needed to get on top of the editing of the book. So, little by little, I’ve been making some progress on editing my book. I’ve got 8 chapters finished so far, so that makes me feel good about it. I started working on the cover before the summer started and haven’t touched it since. I will probably wait till I’m done editing until I jump back on that unless some huge wave of inspiration hits me to design.
What’s to Come
First and foremost, the main goal is to publish The Loophole. That is THE goal. It is a challenge because the cover that I envisioned is going to be a good workload for me considering all of the pieces that it will require. I believe it will get done, I know it will. Once the boys get back to school, my free time can be devoted to working more on the book.
There are several projects that I want to work on besides my book and I hope to see those come to fruition.
The first one that has been on my mind that I’ve already been drawing up notes on is for my TikTok account. I have an account, but I don’t really do much on it, and I’ve been trying to figure out what I want to do. I had a vision of creating content that will help inspire, reinforce, uplift, and maybe even teach others. I’ve already started drafting up ideas and copy. I think once I get the first few out, it will help to keep going. The hardest part is always getting that first one done and out.
Once The Loophole is done and published, I plan on going back to writing what was supposed to be my second book but got pushed back to being my third. I believe I’m already four chapters into that one so there will be some revisiting and seeing if the story is still something I like the direction on.
Another project I wanted to see come to light was a short story writing one. One where I wanted to write short stories that were inspired by music. Music has always been an inspiration to my writing so I know this would come fairly easy to me. With everything else, it’s just about finding the time to work on this. I never want these side projects to ever get in the way of my books and focusing on those.
I would love to get back to my gaming channel as well. I really enjoyed doing that and I could see myself going back to it if time permits. But that’s always going to be my biggest obstacle; time. This is last on my list for a reason. I want to be able to focus on my writing first. I’m hoping to be able to squeeze this in at some point, especially now that my boys are older.
If you’ve made it this far, I just want to thank you for taking the time to read this. I appreciate you so much.
You’re amazing and the best bro-in-law and uncle in the universe!! Can’t wait to see you’re tick tocks.. I’ll go on there way more to see them.. the Caldwell fam loves you!!
Thank you, so much, H. I appreciate you all so much. Having family and friends that always encourage and support means so much and I know makes all of the difference in the world. I love you all, too!
Can’t wait to read the second book! I love that your littlest one got time with you this summer too, I’m sure that made him feel BIG! Keep working towards your goals, you have an army cheering for you!!
Your all’s support means so much. It truly does. Thank you. And yes, Eli was happy to stay home for the rest of the summer. They’re both sad they’re on their last few days of freedom.
